Stanford Powwow 2025: Grand Entry Snippets (2 of 2)

The Grand Entry of the 2025 Annual Powwow at Stanford University (Muwekma Ohlone ancestral lands) featured an invocation and introduction, the Intertribals, the Second Round Dance Competition—Men, and the Third Round Drum Contest.

The Grand Entry of the Annual Powwow at Stanford University — located on the ancestral lands of the Muwekma Ohlone— took place in the evening of Saturday, 10th May, 2025. The Grand Entry featured an invocation and introduction of Head Staff, Flag Staff, Eagle Staff, and Visiting Royalty. The Intertribals (social dances) thereafter were hosted by Headman Dakota Madera and were followed by the Second Round Dance Competition—Men and the Third Round Drum Contest, featuring: Junior Exhibition, Teen Exhibition, Women’s Exhibition, Golden Age Men, Men’s Northern Traditional, Men’s Southern Traditional, Men’s Grass, Men’s Fancy, and Men’s Chicken. The 2025 Head Staff of the 54th Annual Stanford Powwow were: Star Silas, Dakota Madera, Howie Thomson, Kenneth Cozad, Leah McGurk Brown, Wayne Silas, and Dave Begay. The 2025 Host Drums were Black Otter and The Cozad Singers.
